Abstract—This research presents the state of the art of expert systems applied to one solution for monitoring and control of pollution of Brazilian rivers and lakes, because of the many cases of indiscriminate pollution of its rivers and lakes and it comes to affect people's lives and biodiversity as a whole. This application generates reports and supports traceability creation and cross-reference information to search for possible causes and appropriate solutions to the problem raised. Its main contribution is supporting the government and its human specialists how to deal with this great environmental problem using computers as specialists and help them choosing what decisions to make.
